Dinah, a young up and coming Christian Hip Hop artist, a mom, a wife, a daughter and she happens to be my lil sister. She’s been putting this off for a long time, every time we had a date set she went and cancelled or changed the date so I finally said “Let’s do it tomorrow!”. She was unprepared and caught off guard and I think that helped in the success of her shoot. She has a CD coming out soon and so this was for her album cover. We had fun as we always do together. My family isn’t really known for being too serious we laugh at EVERYTHING. I’m glad we finally had the session D aren’t you? Now I need to convince our dad to like pictures so we can finally get a family portrait done it’s been YEARS since we’ve had one. Solitude

We live in a very tense society. We are pulled apart…and we all need to learn how to pull ourselves together…I think that at least part of the answer lies in solitude. ~Helen Hayes
I’m learning a lot about this lately, and I’m learning the hard way. Solitude is not a bad thing. It’s a time for reflection, a time to regroup, a time to get to know yourself better and the things you will not and cannot tolerate from those around you, a way to regain the strength you need to take on the days tasks. A chance to get to know what it is YOU want and to stop doing things to make others happy while you suffer in silence. A chance to get to know yourself through Christ, see yourself the way he see’s you, love yourself the way he loves you and forgive yourself because he has forgiven you. I suggest some alone time to anyone looking to clear the clutter from their minds.

Music While You Wait

I love going home. Every time I go it’s a chance for me to do or see something I took for granted as kid while living there. Now instead of getting annoyed I get excited when I see things like this:
He was such a good sport and kept posing every time I pointed my camera at him. In most part, I’m sure, because no one else paid him any mind…that’s what I was like growing up here, I became unaffected by the things happening around me, it became a part of my everyday to the point that I sometimes didn’t even hear the drum beat but only the thoughts in my head. I don’t want to be that way anymore; unaffected by what’s going on around me, but rather aware, alert and appreciative.
